| Investors now have faith in market
Nasiruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, First VP, the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) is optimistic about a continuous bullish trend in the stock market in view of the changes that are taking place in both political and economic fronts.
He recently talked to the FE and explained elaborately the prevailing situation in the country's stock markets. Excerpts.
Question (Q): How do you evaluate the current state of affairs with the country's stock market? Will the ongoing turnaround continue for long?
Answer (A): General people as well as investors want peaceful business environment. Repeated hindrances caused heavy business loss during October 2006 to January 10, 2007. The new political perspective emerged through the declaration of state of emergency and formation of the second caretaker government, invigorated the stock market investors' confidence to respond positively to the market, getting rid of the uncertainties that were prevailing for quite a long time.

And speaking of China, we all read the stories about the rapid growth of the economy, the increasing percentage of the growth in demand for commodities and energy that comes because of that growth, the increased trade deficit with the US, and the rapid increase in foreign reserves.

Mozambique: Prominent Lawyer Libelled Over Lisbon Apartment
A libellous document is currently circulating in Maputo claiming that, although prominent lawyer Albano Silva, husband of Prime Minister Luisa Diogo, has not paid off a debt to the public treasury, he has purchased a "luxury apartment" in Lisbon. The document is clearly suggesting that Silva took money from the Mozambican treasury and used it to buy property in Portugal. .
